The Northport/East Northport Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force (NENDATF) invites you to attend a press conference for our RECOVERY  MONTH FLAG  RAISING at 2:00pm on Friday, August 30, 2024—International Opioid Awareness Day—at Northport Village Hall, 224 Main St, Northport, NY 11768. You are also encouraged to participate in a candlelight vigil later that day in Northport Village Park at the foot of Main Street from 7 to 9 p.m.

The alarming repercussions of opioid and alcohol addiction in Long Island and throughout the U.S. serve as a urgent call to mobilize action across all sectors of local communities, including lawmakers and other elected officials.

This year’s International Opioid Awareness Day theme is “Together We Can”

“Together, We Can”, ensure that no one faces the battle against overdose alone.  While individual efforts are significant, uniting as a community yields potent collective action.  Each overdose inflicts a detrimental impact not only on the individual but also on the network-family, friends, colleague, mentors, healthcare and support personnel, and first responders-creating a ripple effect that resonates throughout the entire community.
